Benadryl Common use

Benadryl is an antihistamine. Benadryl in the parenteral form is a sterile, pyrogen-free solution. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body. Sometimes Benadryl may be used for purposes different from those listed in this medication guide.

Benadryl Dosage and direction

Take Benadryl exactly like it has been prescribed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, you should ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. You can take it with or without food. For motion sickness, take a dose 30 minutes before motion, then with meals and at bedtime for the duration of exposure. As a sleep aid, you should take Benadryl approximately 30 minutes before bedtime.
